ABOUT US

Cascais Model United Nations (CCMUN) is a student-led conference hosted in the picturesque coastal town of Cascais, Portugal, renowned for its rich history, vibrant culture, and its closeness to Lisbon. Organized by Aprendizes International Active Learning School, this conference offers a engaging platform for 7th to 12th-grade students to experience international diplomacy, develop their leadership skills, and collaborate to solve global problems.

CCMUN follows United Nations simulation guidelines, embracing the official rules of debate, resolution composition, and consensus used in actual UN committees. Students assume the roles of diplomats representing designated countries, solving present problems via moderated caucuses, unmoderated negotiations, and parliamentary debates. Our issues vary from prominent global concerns such as climate action, human rights, international security, and sustainable development, making students critically think and advocate for diverse perspectives.

As an institution, Aprendizes IALS is committed to active, student-centered learning. Our school’s philosophy promotes teamwork, critical and global thinking, values deeply engraved in CCMUN’s morals. Aprendizes uses the organization of the conference as a means of empowering young leaders to bridge the cultural divide, cultivate empathy, and build an interdependent world. We want to see the students of today rewrite the rules of tomorrow.
